We have been in drought over here in Aussie land and we have been watering our plants when ever we can. Luckily we don’t have a garden as such and the few plants we have planted are easy to keep up with. Just lately the rain has been falling out of the sky! It’s been wonderful the mowing we haven’t had to do much for the last 10 years is making up for it, Big Time. The grass is so green, just like I remember. You should see the plants! They have, in the last few weeks of rain, exploded into life! In such a short time they have turned from seedlings into plants!
Often we think things like; water is water or grass is grass, but I don’t think that’s quite reality. There is something in rain water that just isn’t in other water. We could pump up the water from the creek just down the back in the paddock, but it has not the fullness that rain water has. I don’t know the difference but I guess it’s the same as food. Much of the food we buy has no life in it. It could be fruit or vegies in a shop, canned, frozen, or powdered foods, but if it’s not ‘alive’ then it just fills us up and perhaps keeps us going but it doesn’t grow us. Just like the different waters; tap or creek water keeps the plants alive, but rain feeds the plants and they grow with life and fullness of it!
Do you think it’s the same with words? Some of us are encouraging people who use our words to encourage, build up and help life grow in others. Then some of us use our words to hinder, hurt and retard growth in others. Mostly we all end up being a little bit of both of these types of word users; I guess it’s called being human. Being human is not a bad thing; it’s a wonderful gift regardless how we feel about it.
But within the encourager type of word user’s, there seem to be encouragers who mean it and encouragers who don’t. Some of us have understood the power of words and chosen to use them for good and nice-ness only. Those of us who use our words this way are doing so because we want nice-ness to come back to us a lot. It’s also nice to see the words doing good things for others bring smiles too. Then again, some of us use our words to encourage growth, self-esteem, and health for one another - one uses the words for their own good the other thinks of others first and sometimes they will say things that don’t sound nice.
A true friend will say what they think we need to hear and stay close to help us through; they care about our growth/welfare. They don’t give empty lifeless happy, happy words all the time. But they won’t dump the ugly truth on us and just leave us to flounder either. They stay and encourage through with smiles and self-esteem building words, helping us fight through the barriers, often being tough on us, believing we can reach our goals. They want us to see ourselves as they see us; the amazing person we were born to be. They see the end product when they see us, whether we’ve reached that place or not; seeing us as wonderful, bright, beautiful and powerful in every way.
Encouragement’s a lot like water. There are many different kinds and the one that brings life, often comes in the form of a storm that can frighten or/and threaten. Some times it all looks the same but in reality it isn’t really is it...
Whether you know or like it or not - I love you
